Frequently asked questions
20 answersNo account is required for the public lookup tools. Open a tool, enter indicators in the format shown, choose the available data sources, and run the lookup.
The site has separate tools for IPv4 addresses, file hashes, and URLs. The IP reputation checker accepts IPv4 addresses. Enter one indicator per line and use the relevant lookup page for its format.
Choose IP, hash, or URL lookup from the navigation, paste one indicator per line, select any available source options, and start the analysis. The page reports validation errors and lookup status.
Fields depend on the lookup type, source, and available data. IP results can include reputation and network context such as country, ASN, or ISP. Hash and URL results show the fields returned for that indicator. Missing provider data may appear as unavailable.
VirusTotal is available for IP, hash, and URL lookups. The IP checker also offers AbuseIPDB as an optional source. The available fields and coverage can differ between providers.
Treat reputation data as an investigation signal, not a definitive verdict. Providers can disagree, detections may be stale or incomplete, and benign infrastructure can be shared. Validate important findings with context from your own telemetry and response process.
Lookup result tables offer CSV export controls where available. Review the exported file before sharing it, since it may contain indicators or investigation context.
BulkIPLab keeps lookup response data in this browser’s local storage and can reuse cached entries instead of requesting them again. Cached results may not reflect the provider’s latest data. You can review or clear stored lookup data from the cache page, or clear this site’s data in your browser. Open the cache manager.
Providers use different datasets, detection methods, update schedules, and coverage. A difference is a reason to check the source details and corroborate the indicator, not to assume one result is automatically correct.
No. Lookup requests are sent to BulkIPLab services to perform analysis and may be sent to the selected third-party reputation providers. Their handling is governed by their own policies. Do not submit confidential or sensitive indicators unless your organization authorizes that disclosure. Read the Privacy Policy.
The recommendation validator saves your draft in this browser’s local storage so it can be restored after a refresh. The draft is not submitted to BulkIPLab for analysis. Anyone with access to this browser profile may be able to access its local storage, so avoid including sensitive client data.
Yes, as one source of context in your investigation. Confirm findings with internal logs and other evidence, follow your organization’s incident procedures, and consider provider disclosure requirements before submitting sensitive indicators.
It helps MSSP SOC analysts draft clearer, more actionable client recommendations. It highlights configured wording signals and provides a writing score; it does not assess whether a security action is technically correct.
The score is based on configured words and phrases in the draft. It is a writing aid, not a measure of security risk, recommendation quality, or client impact. Always review the meaning, evidence, and suitability of your advice before sending it.
The draft is saved locally in the same browser and profile and restored when you return. Clearing browser site data, using a different browser or device, or storage restrictions can remove or prevent access to it.
Focus Mode gives the editor more room to write and keeps the live rating visible. Your draft stays in the same editor when you enter or exit Focus Mode.
An indicator may be invalid, a provider may not have data for it, or a request may fail because of network or service limits. Check the indicator format and the on-page error, then retry. If the problem continues, contact support with the error message and the lookup type; do not include sensitive indicators unless approved.
The site can be opened on mobile browsers. For reviewing wide result tables and handling larger batches, a desktop or tablet may be more convenient.
Use the Contact page to report a problem or ask a product question. Include the page, browser, steps to reproduce, and any visible error message, while leaving out sensitive indicators.
